![]() Staff had a good understanding of safeguarding and the whistleblowing procedure. The provider had effective processes so that new staff were recruited safely. ![]() ![]() The provider had set up individual arrangements with people to improve this. Some people said they did not always know which staff were due and at what time. People told us staff usually turned up on time. People, staff and relatives felt the service was safe.Ī reliable and consistent staff team provided people’s care. They also said staff were kind, considerate and caring. People and relatives told us the service provided a good level of care. A similar trend had already been identified through the provider’s own quality assurance checks and action was underway to remedy this. We found gaps in signatures on medicines administration records (MARs). The provider did not always maintain accurate records for the medicines people had been given. They told us since the registered manager had started there had been significant improvements made to the service. People, relatives and staff described the registered manager as supportive and approachable. ![]() Registered persons have legal responsibility for meeting the requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated Regulations about how the service is run. Like registered providers, they are ‘registered persons’. A registered manager is a person who has registered with the Care Quality Commission to manage the service. At the time of our inspection it provided a service to approximately 130 people. It provides personal care to people living in their own houses and flats in the community. Synergy Homecare – Washington is a domiciliary care agency. In particular, there was now a more robust risk management process in place to help keep people safe from harm. We found progress had been made and the provider was now meeting the regulations. Following this inspection, to reflect the improvements the provider has made, we have rated the service as Good.įollowing the last inspection, we asked the provider to complete an action plan to show what they would do and by when to improve the key question(s) is the service safe, responsive and well-led to at least good. We rated the service as Requires Improvement. When we last inspected the service we found the provider had breached the regulations relating to safe care and treatment because potential risks to people’s safety were not managed safely. We gave the provider 48 hours' notice to ensure someone would be available to speak with us and show us records. This inspection took place between 16 and 26 March 2018 and was announced. ![]() Our large intestines are full of beneficial bacteria that break down food that our bodies can’t digest on their own. Where would we be without bacteria? Well, we might not be getting bacterial diseases, but we would still be a lot worse off! Bacteria perform all sorts of very important functions, both in our bodies and in the world around us. Keep reading to see four experiments using bacteria, and many more ideas for science projects (also consider this hands-on Bacteria Growing Kit)! Adult supervision is recommended when working with bacteria. If you want to study a particular type of bacteria, you can also purchase live cultures. You also need a source for bacteria, and this is not hard to find! You can swab your mouth or skin, pets, soil, or household surfaces like the kitchen sink or toilet bowl. Most bacteria will grow well using nutrient agar, but some more fastidious bacteria (those with more complex nutrient requirements like Bacillus stearothermophilus, Branhamella catarrhalis, and Bacillus coagulans) prefer tryptic soy agar. Agar is a gelatinous medium that provides nutrients and a stable, controlled environment for bacteria growth. All you need are some petri dishes, agar, and sterile swabs or an inoculating needle. Bacteria are everywhere, and since they reproduce rapidly they are easy to study with just a few simple materials. Growing and testing bacteria is a fun any-time project or a great science fair project. Under perfect conditions a single bacterium could grow into over one billion bacteria in only 10 hours! (It’s a good thing natural conditions are rarely perfect, or the earth would be buried in bacteria!) Bacteria reproduce when one cell splits into two cells through a process called binary fission. Fission occurs rapidly in as little as 20 minutes. Individual bacteria can only be seen with a microscope, but they reproduce so rapidly that they often form colonies that we can see. ![]() ![]() Instead, their DNA floats in a tangle inside the cell. They are different from plant and animal cells because they don’t have a distinct, membrane-enclosed nucleus containing genetic material. You can also use the given sides and angles to find the area of the triangle using Heron's formula or using trigonometric functions like Sin or Cos. ![]() Once you find the sine of angle A, you can use the inverse sine function (arcsin) to find the measure of angle A in radians or degree. By solving this equation you can find the value of cos(C) and then use the inverse cosine function (arccos) to find the measure of angle C in radians or degree.Īdditionally, you can use the Law of Sines to find the measure of the angles, the formula is: Where c is the length of the non-congruent side, a is the length of the congruent sides, and C is the measure of the angle opposite side c. If you know the lengths of two congruent sides (a,a) and the length of the non-congruent side (c) of an isosceles triangle, you can use the Law of Cosines to find the measure of the angles. To calculate the properties of an isosceles triangle when given certain information, you can use the Pythagorean theorem, the Law of Cosines, or the Law of Sines. An isosceles triangle is a triangle where two sides have the same length. Let's start with the trigonometric triangle area formula:Īrea = (1/2) × a × b × sin(γ), where γ is the angle between the sides. This calculator calculates any isosceles triangle specified by two of its properties. Substituting h into the first area formula, we obtain the equation for the equilateral triangle area: One leg of that right triangle is equal to height, another leg is half of the side, and the hypotenuse is the equilateral triangle side.Īfter simple transformations, we get a formula for the height of the equilateral triangle: ![]() ![]() See our right triangle calculator to learn more about right triangles. Height of the equilateral triangle is derived by splitting the equilateral triangle into two right triangles. The basic formula for triangle area is side a (base) times the height h, divided by 2: H = a × √3 / 2, where a is a side of the triangle.īut do you know where the formulas come from? You can find them in at least two ways: deriving from the Pythagorean theorem (discussed in our Pythagorean theorem calculator) or using trigonometry. The formula for a regular triangle area is equal to the squared side times the square root of 3 divided by 4:Īnd the equation for the height of an equilateral triangle looks as follows: |
